Packaging: Protecting Your Order and the Planet

At The Wild Meat Company, we’re committed to delivering your fresh meat in top condition while minimising our environmental impact.

We have worked hard to develop eco-conscious packaging solutions by choosing materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable. Here’s everything you need to know about our sustainable and effective packaging solutions:

Insulated Boxes

Wild Meat Company Cardboard Boxes

Your meat will arrive in an insulated recyclable cardboard box designed to maintain fridge temperatures (4-7ºC) throughout the delivery period. While our orders are shipped via 24-hour courier, our packaging has been rigorously tested to keep your items protected and chilled for up to 48 hours from dispatch.

Eco-Friendly Insulation with Wool Liners

Our wool insulating liners offer an environmentally friendly method for keeping your meat cold during transit. Wool is a sustainable by-product of sheep farming and one of nature’s smartest fibers, naturally regulating temperature by absorbing and releasing moisture. The wool is then hygienically sealed in an outer bag made from a minimum of 30% recycled content.

After unpacking your order, the wool liners can be reused in countless creative ways! If you prefer to dispose of them, simply separate the wool from the outer bag. The wool is fully compostable and biodegradable, or it can be recycled with textiles. The LDPE bag can be sent for recycling via the soft plastic collection points available at most local supermarkets.

EcoChill™ Gel Ice Packs

To keep your meat perfectly chilled, we include EcoChill™ gel ice packs from Puffin Packaging Ltd. These packs are non-toxic, safe to handle, and reusable if in good condition. When it’s time to dispose of them, you can pour the gel into your general waste bin and recycle the outer plastic either via your local council or at supermarket recycling points.

You don’t need to worry if the contents touch your skin as this is a non-toxic substance and safe to use, however they are not for human consumption and should be kept out of the reach of children.

Sustainable Product Trays

As part of our sustainability efforts, we’ve completely eliminated polystyrene trays from our packaging. Products that don’t require extra support are vacuum-packed to reduce waste. For those that do, we use trays which are either biodegradable and compostable or recyclable.
