A warm chestnut head, creamy forehead and grey flanks give it a colour combination quite different from mallard or teal. Hens are plainer, a soft brown, but still distinctly wigeon in shape. All our wigeon are supplied whole and unprocessed, with head, feet and plumage present, and each bird is checked for feather condition. Birds supplied outside the September to February season will have been previously frozen.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSourced from the marshes and estuaries of Suffolk, wigeon gives taxidermists and photographers a mid-sized duck with warm, distinctive colouring. These birds are also a useful addition for Scout groups and outdoor educators running bushcraft programmes, offering a species that contrasts well with the more familiar mallard.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note: as this bird has not been processed by our butchery, we are unable to undertake our usual quality control checks on the meat. It will arrive with traces of blood on the plumage.
