Everyone recognises it, and that familiarity is a genuine advantage as a specimen. The drake, with its glossy green head, white collar and chestnut breast, is hard to beat for visual impact. Hens are more understated, with a brown patterning that wildlife artists and illustrators find just as useful for reference work.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll our mallard are sourced from shoots across Suffolk during the September to February season and supplied whole and unprocessed. Birds supplied outside the season will have been previously frozen. For bushcraft sessions with Scout groups, schools and outdoor education providers, mallard’s familiarity gives young people a confident starting point.
