Praise for the Wild Meat Co

The Wild Meat Company has been lucky enough to receive some great praise from local and celebrity chefs and appears in the media regularly.

Chefs' recommendations

We are delighted to be featured in various books for the supplying of prepared wild game meat. We have had our game featured on Jamie & Jimmy's Friday Night Feast on Channel 4, The Hairy Bikers on BBC2 and even BBC 2's Newsnight! We regularly send game down to River Cottage.

Food Unwrapped

Jimmy Doherty visited the Wild Meat Company in 2014 to find out more about how we are taking wild venison stalked by local stalkers and selling it directly to consumers or putting it on local supermarket shelves at Waitrose, Budgens and East of England Co-op.  You can watch his visit on the Channel 4 web site: Food Unwrapped Series 3, Episode 3 - Venison >

Rick Stein's Food Heroes

Rick Stein - Guide to food heroes

Wild Meat Co is included in Rick Stein's directory of the best food producers in his Guide to Food Heroes (second edition).
Producers were selected for the quality of the produce and assessed by personal testing and experience. The book sets out to encourage readers to explore the small-scale side of food production. This is a very personal selection from one of Britain's most trusted authorities on food and we were honoured to be included.

River Cottage - Meat Book

We are also listed in the directory of specialist suppliers in Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage Meat Book. This definitive volume (543 pages!) encourages readers to think about the meat they eat and the animals that it comes from and how they cook it. The first part of the book focusses on understanding meat and includes a detailed section on game; the second part of the group is about cooking mat - not just roasting but also barbecuing and preserving.

Hattie Ellis - What to Eat

In her award-winning book, What to Eat - 10 chewy questions about food - Hattie Ellis visits the Wild Meat Company and learns how to butcher wild venison and learns to appreciate the qualities of wild over farmed meat as well as the sustainability of wild game.
